Coffeeneuring 2016 - Ride 1 October 9, 2016

Coffeeneuring Ride 1

Coffeeneuring 2016 Trip 1.
Dunkin Donuts with kiddos and neighbors.
16 mile round trip. Cross winds.
Coffee stop = 3/10 stars

I got cold last night.  We left the windows open and fans on.  I think the temp actually dropped to about 65 and I had a sheet.  Jen likes to roll and take the covers at night.  Needless to say, when I woke up I was rip-roaring ready to get on with the first coffeeneuring ride of the season.  After an eggs benedict breakfast, we saddled up on the Tandem, with the kids, and with Joe and Amber, our neighbors, who are each sporting beautiful Electra Townie 7 speeds now.  I like to call us Team LaCondesa.

The weather was perfect although there were some wind concerns from leftover tropical systems.  Lucky for us we were riding eight miles to Gulf Breeze Proper, where a brand new Dunkin Donuts had opened a few weeks before.  We pedaled slowly through the cross winds to the new building.  When we arrived, the line was almost to the door!  It was hot inside too, like an AC unit was broken, but there were a few things wrong.  I was looking forward to my Macchiato, as was my wife, but their Espresso machine was broken. GRRRRR...I was a little upset that I just rode eight miles in a steady crosswind for black coffee. Needless to say, DD won't be getting my business for quite some time!  Gonna give this coffee shop a 3 out of 10!   Oh well, the day was beautiful, and we're always happy when the kids actually want to ride with us.  We have some good themes and plans in the works, but gotta build up the stamina as we both haven't been riding very much lately.

We coffeed up, stopped down by the bay on a nice bluff (since it was too crowded and hot inside the store) and drank our beverages, wolfing down our donuts before heading back to do yard work and watch football for the day.  Team LaCondesa is ready for another installment this season, and the best rule, definitely by far, is the coffeeneur any day of the week!  YAY.  Looking forward to my next patch after completing my mission.  My job this year will be just to write for the Lutz Family, as Amber and Joe will complete their own entries.  Bring on Coffeeneuring Season 2016!

The ride home was the best as people in the affluent neighborhood on the route go to extremes for Halloween!  A beautiful opening ride, even if the coffee wasn't so good.

Lawn mower accident

Halloween yard decorations--best one in the hood so far!

Avery, ready to get going after refueling on Tea and a donut

America runs on Dunkin--but we wont for the next few months!

It's coffee--I'm not complaining!
